Born in 1972, he studied classical violin in Strasburg Conservatory from six to seventeen. Then he went to Paris Superior National Music Conservatory. He received a Jazz award in 1996. He’s on stage as a jazz musician, composes for concerts, cinema and theatre.
He’s also an arranger and has been a conductor for a few years.
His music, deeply melodic and with rich orchestral textures, takes roots in jazz, literature, classical music, cinema.
His first album « Frédéric Norel: Dreamseekers », released on the label Melisse, is among the top 20 of 2009 Inrocks Magazine (class world / jazz / song). It also receives awards «4 stars» from Classica magazine and «disc EMOI» from Jazzmagazine.
He teaches jazz music during ten years, at the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood, and then at the Paris Conservatory.
He has been on stage with Georges Russell, Louis Sclavis, Médéric Collignon, Stéphane Oliva, Jean-Charles Richard, Bernard Struber, Bruno Chevillon, Jean-Philippe Viret, Sylvain Rifflet, Eric Echampard, Bireli Laurene, Edouard Ferlet, François Méchali…
